Carnivore Snax - Taste Test and Review!

Two years ago, I attempted to go full carnivore (only beef, salt, and water). I only lasted 6 days. It's always bothered me I couldn't make it longer, but the biggest issue I had was consuming enough calories. Day 1 is amazing, day 2 is still pretty good, day 3 becomes average quickly, day 4 it gets tough to even smell meat any more, and day 5 and 6 the sight of a steak made me want to gag. I know, too much information.

All that to say, I wish I had Carnivore Snax back then. I was not a believer when I first purchase a bag of ribeye Carnivore Snax (I purchased it, this is not a sponsored post). The price seemed too high for the amount of meat, based on the ingredients I wasn't sure how it would taste, and I wasn't sure how much different it would actually be from normal beef jerky. I ended up being wrong on everything...here's how.

TLDR Summary: Carnivore Snax are 100% worth it and my new favorite way to snack throughout the day. They somehow manage to be filling, savory, and even stop cravings for sweets. I loved them from day 1, my wife did not like them at first. After a few days of trying, they quickly grew on her and she can't stop eating them either. How Are Carnivore Snax Different?

When you hear "meat snack," your brain probably goes straight to traditional beef jerky: leathery, overly salty, and sometimes loaded with preservatives (at least my brain did). Carnivore Snax are nothing like that. Here’s why:

  1. Minimal Ingredients:
Each Carnivore Snax product contains only two ingredients: high-quality meat and Redmond Real Salt. That’s it. There are no additives, no preservatives, no sugars, and no nonsense. Just pure meat and salt. This simplicity is refreshing in a world where even "healthy" snacks often have ingredient lists that look like chemistry experiments.
  2. Texture Like No Other:
Unlike jerky, which can sometimes feel like chewing on shoe leather, Carnivore Snax are crispy, airy, and almost melt in your mouth. Some people call them "meat pastries," and honestly, I can’t think of a better description. They’re satisfying without being tough, and the texture somehow elevates the entire experience.
  3. Regenerative Sourcing:
Carnivore Snax takes sustainability seriously. The meat comes from farms practicing regenerative agriculture, which is not only better for the planet but also results in healthier, more nutrient-dense animals. Supporting Carnivore Snax means supporting ethical and environmentally conscious farming.
  4. High Meat Content:
Here’s the kicker: each bag contains the equivalent of one pound of grass fed and finished pasture-raised meat before it’s dehydrated (helping to better explain the price point) It’s a dense in a nutritional sense and a filling option that packs a punch in both flavor and satiety.

Are Carnivore Snax Healthy?

Yes, yes, and yes again. Let’s break it down:

  • High in Protein:
With anywhere from 10 to 21 grams of protein per ounce, these snacks are a powerhouse for muscle maintenance, energy, and satiety. Whether you’re hitting the gym or just trying to curb those midday hunger pangs, Carnivore Snax delivers.
  • Healthy Fats:
Depending on the cut, you’re getting a good dose of healthy fats, which are essential for energy, hormone production, and nutrient absorption. Ribeye and brisket cuts are particularly rich in fats, making them a great choice for keto enthusiasts or anyone looking to fuel up without carbs.
  • Zero Carbs:
Speaking of carbs—there aren’t any. For anyone on a ketogenic or low-carb diet, these snacks are a dream come true. They’re also completely sugar-free, which is rare for meat snacks these days.
  • Clean Eating Approved:
No gluten, no dairy, no artificial anything. If you’re sensitive to certain foods or just trying to keep your diet clean, these snacks check all the boxes.

Personal Take:
I didn’t expect Carnivore Snax to keep me full for as long as they do. A couple of pieces can tide me over for hours, which is impressive considering I’m someone who tends to snack often and also typically feel the need for something sweet. It’s also great knowing I’m not putting junk into my body. I feel good after eating them, which isn’t always the case with other snacks.

How Do Carnivore Snax Taste?

Taste is subjective, but let me tell you—Carnivore Snax absolutely nailed it.

  • Flavor:
The natural taste of the meat is what sets these apart, with just the right amount of salt to enhance it. It's difficult to explain without trying it, but it just tastes like pure meat. It’s pure, it’s savory, and it’s incredibly satisfying. Unlike some jerky brands that rely on heavy spices or marinades to mask the flavor, Carnivore Snax lets the quality of the meat shine through.
  • Texture:
The texture deserves its own paragraph. It’s light and crispy, almost like a meat chip, but with a richness and a melt-in-your-mouth feeling. I’ve never had anything like it before, and I doubt I’ll find anything similar elsewhere. It sounds weird, I know, because it is weird in the best of ways. haha

Personal Take:
The first time I opened a bag of the ribeye flavor, I was skeptical. But one bite in, and I was hooked. My wife, on the other hand, needed a little convincing. She thought the flavor was too strong at first, but after a few tries, she couldn’t stop stealing pieces from my stash. Now we’re both obsessed.

What Are the Ingredients in Carnivore Snax?

This is one of the simplest snacks you’ll ever encounter. Each bag contains:

  1. Meat:
Grass-fed and grass-finished beef, pork, lamb, or chicken from regenerative farms in the USA. The quality of the meat is evident in every bite.
  2. Salt:
Redmond Real Salt, a natural, unrefined sea salt packed with trace minerals. It’s a far cry from the overly processed table salt most people are used to.

That’s it. No fillers, no preservatives, no junk.

How Much Do Carnivore Snax Cost?

Let’s address the elephant in the room: the price. Carnivore Snax are not cheap, but there’s a reason for that.

  • Pricing:
Beef cuts like ribeye and New York Strip are around $39.97 per bag, while pork and chicken options are slightly less, at $29.97 per bag.
  • Value:
Yes, the price is higher than your average snack, but you’re paying for top-tier ingredients, ethical sourcing, and the equivalent of a pound of meat in each bag. It’s an investment in your health and in supporting sustainable farming practices.

Personal Take:
I was hesitant to spend that much on a snack, but after trying them, I can confidently say they’re worth every penny if you have the pennies to spend. That's my big caveat. Don't wrack up a credit card bill if the snax break the budget. They are great, but not go into debt great. Snack responsibly.

They’re filling enough that a single bag lasts me longer than I expected, and the quality is unbeatable. They are also dehydrated so they pack a whole pound of steak into only 5 ounces. Dehydrated meat retains nearly all the original calories and nutrients, it just lacks the water. So if you eat 5 ounces of Carnivore Snax, you just ate 1 pound worth of a top-quality 16-ounce Ribeye steak.

Packed on date and refrigeration instructions

How Long Do Carnivore Snax Last?

  • Shelf Life:
Unopened bags last up to six months. After opening, it’s best to consume them within three days for optimal texture, though refrigeration can extend this to ten days (this is what is said on the packaging). I'm not recommending this to anyone, but I have left a bag open, unrefrigerated, for 6 days and they still smelled and tasted great (and no, I did not get sick).

Pro Tip:
If you’re not planning to eat them all right away, you can freeze the snacks to preserve freshness. They thaw quickly and taste just as good.

RIBEYE Carnivore Snax

What Flavors and Cuts Does Carnivore Snax Offer?

Carnivore Snax has an impressive variety of cuts and flavors, so there’s something for everyone:

  • Beef: Ribeye, Brisket, New York Strip, Eye of Round, and Chuck.
  • Pork: Pork Loin.
  • Lamb: Lamb Sliders.
  • Chicken: Chicken Sliders.
  • Bison: Bison Sliders.

Each cut has its own unique flavor and texture. For example, ribeye is rich and fatty, while pork loin is leaner and milder. I'll review each flavor as I purchase them. So far I have only tried the Ribeye (see below for flavor review)

Carnivore Snax: Ribeye Flavor Review

Ribeye was the first flavor I tried, so it's tough to compare it to anything else since Carnivore Snax by themselves are such a different experience than typical jerky.

Ribeye is naturally fatty so expect the pieces to look like they contain tons of fat...because they do (see photo below). But don't let that scare you. I hate chunks of chewy fat on the steaks, so I was a bit worried when I first saw how much fat there was. To my surprise, the fat on these tastes amazing.

There is no chewyness, but rather it simply melts in your mouth and releases tons of flavor. My guess is, since these are fattier high-grade ribeye steaks with plenty of marbeling, these will be more "melt in your mouth" than many, if not all, of there other cuts/flavors.

They are crispy, but not at all chewy. I wouldn't say these are a replacement to jerky, but rather a completely new way of eating and experiencing beef.

If you abide by the carnivore diet and only eat meat, these would be an excellent way to stick to the diet while getting something that tastes and feels completely different from the normal steaks you eat.

Ribeye Cut/Favor Rating: 9/10 (I love the melt in your mouth, but like the crispness even better. That's why I've deducted 1 point from my entirely non-scientific personal taste rating scale)

Are Carnivore Snax Good for Kids?

Absolutely. If you’re looking for a healthy, protein-packed snack for your little ones, Carnivore Snax are a great option. They’re free from allergens and artificial ingredients, making them a safer choice than most processed snacks.

Personal Take:
My kids were skeptical at first but quickly warmed up to the chicken sliders. It’s nice to have a snack option I can feel good about giving them, especially since they’re usually reaching for chips or cookies.
